A fine weekend after a rainy week

Warm enough, not hot. But last week Decatur got 2 inches of rain.

Saturday: planted my veg transplants into the garden. Power washed the porch area--siding and windows. Can see tomato volunteers germinating. So don't need to buy any tomato transplants.

Blue spruce ball is still pretty wide.

Some animal tries to dig up these tulip bulbs. Maybe I'll plant more.

This barberry is flowering.

Japanese maple looks best in the spring.

Green ash leafing out a bit later than the other trees.

Gingko leafing out later than most trees.
Peonies and cone flowers.
Replaced 3 of these roses last week.
Iris started blooming this week.
Magnolia leafing out more and more.

  1. Rain coming end of this week. Honda mower drive belt broke, so I mowed the front and sides with the riding mower. Tues afternoon, I pushed the Honda to finish cutting the back, since I wanted to bag the clippings for mulch in the garden. Japanese maple in the back looks damaged from winter, half killed. bummer. Got some miracle gro liquid feed put on.

  3. I bought a mower belt on eBay.

Beginning of May, and days are long enough to work in the yard after work. Temps not hot yet. So summer has begun. So enjoy it before the days get short again.

Watching the canna rhizomes I planted. only see 1 point showing. The one left in the ground from last year, nothin showing yet.

Today planted veg transplants I got from Menards--orange pepper and roma tomato.
