First mowing

Redbud survived winter, and is leafing out.

Red plum flowering.

Results of the first mowing.

Curvy willow in the pot. Japanese maple in the ground.

Here comes a large hosta by the pond. I removed part of the clump to transplant elsewhere.

Fenton's hostas under the magnolia.

So warm that the leaves are coming out on this magnolia. Blooms will be gone soon.

Trouble starting the riding mower the first time. Emergency jumper--only hear solenoid clicking. Jumped with the car--nothing, smoke coming out of the battery. Put it on the sump pump charger over the lunch period. Although seemed like it was charged up/trickling in just a few mins. Volt meter reading was only 8V.

After lunch, volt meter said 12.5V and it started up cleanly, after I cleaned the strap connections on both solenoid terminals. Burned the rest of the gas from over winter. Went out and got some fresh Shell V-Power gas to help clean out the system.
Fished the small pond for the first time this year. Got a sunfish and a small feisty bass.
early evening, when the wind was dying down a bit.
